30 years after the Berlin Wall fell the 156th Presidium meeting took place in the UFE headquarter in Berlin. Vice president Lorna Merry (GB) informed her colleagues about the newest developments of BREXIT. After a discussion about digital invoices, cash money, working conditions, mobile working, artificial intelligence for tax and custom administrations the presidium discussed the existing plans of a new VAT System within the EU. These plans are not convincing. Rather the EU should improve the existing system by expanding the reverse charge for goods susceptible to fraud.

45th Commitee in Lissabon

At the 45th Committee Congress in Lisbon, scheduled new elections were on the agenda. For the President of UFE Dieter Ondracek, who did not run for office again for reasons of age, Serge Colin (France) was elected the new President of UFE.

The foundation of UFE

At the request of the Dutch and German colleagues, the Union of Finance Officers in Europe (UFE) was founded at the conference in Munich on 22 May 1963.
